Why do ordinary employees need Union representation?
1. It's no secret that employees with unions average 30 to 35 percent more in pay and benefits when compared to their non-union counterparts. (Source BLS) 2. To prevent their employer from reducing their income, rates of pay or benefits. 3. Employees form unions in order to negotiate a fair share of the profits that they make for their employer. 4.Workers form unions to prevent their employer from firing or disciplining them unfairly. Union contracts prevent employers from getting away with unjustly firing or disciplining their employees. 5. To gain new and improved benefits for themselves, like retirement benefits or health insurance benefits. 6. To gain rights at work that they do not currently have. 7. To gain the ability to challenge unfair management decisions. Without a Union to protect your interests, you have to take whatever management dishes out and there is nothing you can do about it. With AWPPW representing you, we can help you effectively challenge unfair management decisions and we help you get these unfair management decisions overruled. 8. To gain the right with through their Union, to make or change work rules that negatively effect them. |
